Little Betty is Debra Powell, ceramic artist, and recidivist collector of elderly rehomed greyhounds. She lives on 27 acres of isolated hill-paddock in the rural Waikato region of New Zealand, with Jim, Olive and Cedric, one of whom is the guy who packs and dispatches Deb's art. He is Mr Betty.
Deb is also a doctor of History, and is fascinated by the tiny stories that go to make up our lives. This fixation with narratives comes through in her art, and her characters carry stories that are gentle and curious, told with introspection and humour.
