Pirate Hugh
Hugh is a therapist, though his dream is to break into the world of professional opera. With no formal (or informal) music or drama training, Hugh may have somewhat unrealistic expectations. Here he is seen sporting the costume that he wore for "The Pirates of Penzance." This is the one and only (amateur) production he has been in, and he "accidentally" took the costume home and failed to return it. It is this costume which he has also worn for every unsuccessful audition he has done since, such as the character John Travolta plays in the stage version of Grease, as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, and–much to the alarm of his co-workers–some of his client therapy sessions.
Hugh is also an articulated ceramic wall puppet and he is modelled by hand in stoneware clay, twice fired, decorated with ceramic glazes, and finished with a cold glaze. He is approximately 32 cm long, and can hang on the wall by nail, hook or tack. Here he is pictured with his friend, Eric, who has been receiving accolades for his recent performance on the Tour de Force cycle simulator racing circuit.
